Guess what? The sun came out today! I decided to take this rare opportunity to get some brighter images of Brighton Beach and take a break from night time shots. I like this image because it reminds me of Brighton in the summer, without all the tourists and stickiness that kids with ice-cream and sun-tan lotion provide. The other element of this photograph that I find interesting is that it looks a bit like a watercolour which is an effect I didn't aim for but got me thinking about the simple, yet effective impression this genre creates. I started researching other artists that get inspiration from watercolour beach scenes to include in this entry, when I came across an article from The Daily Mail (link below) about a boy who got inspired to start painting on a holiday in Devon and Cornwall. Incredibly, this boy is only six years old! Here is an example of his work:
This definitely inspires me to start up my painting again and maybe even explore watercolours, which is an area I've always shied away from before.
